Our History

SunCoke Energy has been a leading producer of coke for approximately 60 years. We operate metallurgical coke plants in Granite City, Illinois; East Chicago, Indiana; Franklin Furnace and Middletown, Ohio; Vansant, Virginia; and Vitória, Brazil. These facilities produce approximately 6 million tons of coke each year.

We have experience in mixing and transloading various raw materials.

Our half a century of success and commitment to innovation drive us to explore new industries and growth opportunities today.

2010s

Platform for Growth

2011 SunCoke spun off from Sunoco, Inc.

2011 New heat-recovery cokemaking facility opened in Middletown, Ohio

2013 Launched IPO of SunCoke Energy Partners, L.P. (SXCP), our master limited partnership

2013 Expanded into logistics business with acquisition of Lake and Kanawha River Terminals

2015 Acquired Convent Marine Terminal to expand logistics business and enter export market

2019 Successfully completed the Simplification Transaction; where SXC acquired all of SXCP's outstanding common units not already owned by SXC
